Pre-race (day before) we moved Doug & Dawnell into their new home. Note to self: do not help anyone move the day before a race.
Race day morning felt good. A little stiff in the joints from pre-race activities, but all is well, it's only a 10-K. Here we are below: Lance, me, and Ashlyn posing with double peace signs.
Like all races, the start is fast. Knowing better, I still get caught up in it. I backed off and found myself caught up in it again. I finally backed it off to about a 8:00-8:06 pace. My goal was to finish with an 8:05 pace. Pic below is at about 1.5 miles.
Lance and Ashlyn having some fun in their race uniforms. :)
Lap 1 one, starting lap 2. At this point I'm wishing I had signed up for the 5-k. Still at an 8:06ish pace questioning if I can keep this up for the 2nd half.
I love this pic. So totally sums up how I feel. Like shiz!
Ashlyn took 10th place in the overall female division of the 5-K.
At this point I'm dying to walk. My pace has slowed down some.
McRib, my professional sherpa is playing amateur photographer.

I'm feeling like I could puke and I'm wishing I could rip my heartrate monitor off
along with my UA top that kept crawling up over my tummy.

Glad I'm done and the end of the race couldn't come any faster. :D
This is Sara, a friend of the family who walked the 5-K.
Dawnell and her dad finish walking the 5-K.
I averaged an 8:15/mile pace, placed 2nd in my age group and placed 5th overall in the women's division of the 10-K. Not too shabby and I'll take it, afterall I kept my clothes on.

Doug, Lance, me, Ashlyn, Dawnell. I'm feeling much better after a plate of pancakes served up by the high school foundation. Gotta love small town events - there is always pancakes.
My Sherpa's:
Tanya (sherpa in training) McRib (professional sherpa) and Shania (sherpa in training).
