Foto Friday!!!

This morning I got up at 4am to do a brick workout: 1 mile swim and a 25 mile bike ride. It was a beautiful morning and the brick workout was great! Tomorrow I am in for a 50-75 mile bike ride with the crew, a long run on Sunday and then it's 3 weeks to go to Ironman Kansas!

Here are some freaky pics someone sent me. I found them interesting, but would not want to own it or ride it myself. I'll stick to my Fat Boy - that's my Harley, not my hubby. :D

Foto Friday

Mom-in-law is coming to town today. Gotta CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! but I'm in the mood to BAKE! BAKE! BAKE! :D

Here are some pictures from my trip to Jackson, WY three summers ago, white water rafting. I highly recommend Tom Kemper as a guide (The middle guy, last picture). He has been a white water guide for over 30 years. He is knowledgeable and fun! He knows the waters and takes very good care of you. He obviously works for Jackson Hole Whitewater, but if that changes...I'll be sure to let you know. AND...if you happen to go to Jackson this summer, call me, I'd love to meet you. Did I ever mention that my favorite place in the whole world is Jackson, WY?

I spent 10 days out there, hiking many, many trails and peaks, slept in my car and have stories to tell - an encounter with a moose. YIKES! I've been there several times, but am by far no expert on the area. However, I can direct you to some great trailheads and great places to eat.

Down 3

OK, so Day 1 & 2 of Week 3 - yes, I've been on WW for 2 weeks already. First week I lost a pound, second week I gained 3. OOPS!

I had to make up my mind that I can conquer this so I did. I can do anything for 5 weeks so I've implemented my nutrition plan into my training regimen. More importantly than losing the 5-10 pounds is making sure I am fueled for my workouts and maintain my strength for race day. I will not sacrifice all the training hours I have sweated just to lose a few pounds. I found losing a few pounds would help with how I feel, and perhaps not feel so sluggish. I am a huge sugar and carb lover and need this to change those bad habits. Weigh-ins are Saturday mornings, so you will have to wait til the weekend for the weekly results.

Per WW, I am allowed 22 points a day + an extra 35 points per week (5 per day) + my exercise points. Monday, I ate 27.5 points in food. I was not hungry and I was fueled for the day's training. I did not go to bed hungry. Even though I could've eaten more - 22 pts + 5 + 8 pts in exercise I wanted to be sure I stuck to eating lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grains.

This morning (Wed) I am down 3 {147}, actually 5 if you count my first gain. My starting point is 150. I am feeling better and have been watching my sugar intake as well as the bread/starches. Last night I made homemade chicken pot pie...that was tough. I think I could've eaten half the pan. YIKES! Instead I had a salad and a small piece of the inside of the pie {yes! I skipped the best part - the pie crust}. But it's all about control and a goal. Once I break some of my bad habits - sugar & bread - I'll be good to go. Hang with me! :-D

I am on a quest and need your help. I have recently diagnosed myself with 70.3 eating disease. What is that? Well, I eat more than I should. I'm hungry all the time, which is not a bad thing because of all the exercise, but it's the "bad" food choices and the "overeating" I am making that I need help with. I am in training for the Ironman Kansas 70.3 so I do need to make sure I fuel the sport not go on a "diet". IM KS is 5 weeks away. I would like to drop 10 lbs by then, but am not sure I can do that and have the strength to train and compete. So I'm aiming for 5 lbs. My plan is to use my blog to track my progress and hopefully all you healthy runners and bikers and triathletes can support me along the way. I have joined Weight Watchers online to count points - eating and exercise. I'll update again later on how the day goes.

Foto Friday

So, the Lincoln Marathon was fantastic! Garmin time gave me an 8:33 pace finishing in 1:53. Kim and her S.O. Doug came down for the full marathon, we had a little derby party, lots of fun and overall a "perfect" weekend. Here's a few pics... {and only 5 weeks to Ironman KS 70.3 - WOOT!}

What started out as a thing soon became a challenge and now....it's a ride of passion!

5 DAYS ~ 500 MILES
Extreme Individuals
Extreme Miles
Extreme Fun

When: Wednesday, June 17 through Sunday, June 21, 2009
Starting Point: TBD
Lot Leave time: 6:30 a.m.
Mileage: 100 miles a day for 5 straight days
Route: TBD by weather
What it is: A bike ride. Pace is yours.
What it isn't: A race. No medals. No trophy's. No cash prizes.

Do you have to ride all 5 days? Nope. You can ride one (1) day, two (2) days, three (3) days, four (4) days, or all five (5) days. It's your ride, your challenge, your passion.

What about SAG? You are at your own mercy. You are responsible for your own wake up call, energy, drinks, eats, injuries, phone calls and flats. The ride organizers are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, bad attitudes or sore muscles. If you can't hack it, don't ride it.

Where will we ride to? Several 100 mile routes are in the planning process. One will be designated based upon the weather forecast for that morning. We will start and end in the same place.
