- 28-40 ounces of water are lost in breath and perspiration [heavy breather???]
- 20-55 ounces are lost during urination [I pee all the time so I’m going to double that]
- 2-7 ounces are lost via the gastrointestinal tract (feces) [no comment]
Take your weight [don’t cheat] and divide by two. The result is the number of ounces of water you should drink a day.I be seeing yellow already! ☺
Example:
146 [I’ve lost 5 lbs – cheers!] / 2 = 73 ounces OR 6 – 12 ounce glasses of water a day.
It’s a lot of water, more than I drink now [I thought I drank a lot already YIKES! I may need to buy one of those porta potty thingies Marcy blogged about and tow it with me everywhere I go]. So I’m adding it to my goals to see if it makes a difference in curbing some of my hunger during the beginning stages of Mr. Q's weight loss challenge to create some better eating habits.
Today is a 1 hour bike ride and a 30 min run. Peace and Love peeps.

Yes, you need that hydration! I drink 2 or 3 giant Starbucks thermo-mugs of green tea per day...
It is also good against leg-cramps (unless you have them in an extreme form, nothing but Magnesium will save you there).
Thanks for reminding me to get my water daily Nike Mom! :) Such good stats are such a reminder to drink up!
Thanks for the reminder! I need to drink up!
OMG I'm SOOOO anal about water. 1 gallon a day drinker here. Gotta make sure my pee is clear :P
I always find its something you have to work up to. To try and start out drinking that much water can almost make you feel sick. Not sure if your body has to get use to putting it all though the system or what..
cheers.
Okay that equals out to be a LOT more water then I am currently consuming. That's kind of scary.
All i drink is water, but it's nice to get a reminder from time to time.
I always know it on the days when I neglect to drink enough water...that first glass when I get home is like fuel.
Yeah...the porta-potty thing would be handy :-))
I am horrible about drinking water. Coffee on the other hand is another story. thanks for the reminder about why I should pound the H2O.
Now that I know how much water I need (and I'm not telling!) I'm going to start measuring it to see how close I come.
