Drink UP! It’s good for you.

Did you know:
  • 28-40 ounces of water are lost in breath and perspiration [heavy breather???]
  • 20-55 ounces are lost during urination [I pee all the time so I’m going to double that]
  • 2-7 ounces are lost via the gastrointestinal tract (feces) [no comment]
Water makes up more than 2/3 of our body weight. Wait, don’t stop drinking it, thinking you will lost weight. You won’t. Without water, you would die. So, Can it help your diet? According to Mara Z. Violins, “It is hard to distinguish between being thirsty and being hungry, so try drinking water and waiting 20-30 minutes to see if you’re still hungry”. She also claims that water consumption may also help you when counting calories. Caloric value of water = ZIPPO! Cool. So, how much water should you drink? Vitolin recommends the following method:
Take your weight [don’t cheat] and divide by two. The result is the number of ounces of water you should drink a day.

Example:
146 [I’ve lost 5 lbs – cheers!] / 2 = 73 ounces OR 6 – 12 ounce glasses of water a day.
I be seeing yellow already! ☺

It’s a lot of water, more than I drink now [I thought I drank a lot already YIKES! I may need to buy one of those porta potty thingies Marcy blogged about and tow it with me everywhere I go]. So I’m adding it to my goals to see if it makes a difference in curbing some of my hunger during the beginning stages of Mr. Q's weight loss challenge to create some better eating habits.

Today is a 1 hour bike ride and a 30 min run. Peace and Love peeps.

Yes, you need that hydration! I drink 2 or 3 giant Starbucks thermo-mugs of green tea per day...

It is also good against leg-cramps (unless you have them in an extreme form, nothing but Magnesium will save you there).

I always find its something you have to work up to. To try and start out drinking that much water can almost make you feel sick. Not sure if your body has to get use to putting it all though the system or what..

cheers.

Okay that equals out to be a LOT more water then I am currently consuming. That's kind of scary.

I always know it on the days when I neglect to drink enough water...that first glass when I get home is like fuel.

Yeah...the porta-potty thing would be handy :-))

Now that I know how much water I need (and I'm not telling!) I'm going to start measuring it to see how close I come.
